Compost Pile &
Spaceship Zulu

ABOUT THE MURAL:

This collaborative mural was painted by local artists Compost Pile and Spaceship Zulu during the 2021 SSMO Mural Festival. Located on the Truman music venue in KC’s Crossroads Arts District, this mural accompanies the 2017 mural on the West side also painted by Compost Pile and the 2019 mural on the East side painted by Phybr. Unintentionally, all three murals depict birds as a central subject matter!

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Originally from Arkansas, Compost Pile made his way to Kansas City in 2004. A self-taught painter specializing in realistic renderings of Midwestern wildlife, he grew up learning from his dad who is also an artist (recently, they both had work in the same show at Upper Level Gallery!). Compost Pile also doubles as a musician and creates experimental electronic beats, going by the name Worker.

In his own words, Spaceship Zulu has been making degenerative art since 2015. Based in Kansas City, MO he specializes in stencil art and is predominately influenced by the pop culture of the 90’s.
